If you want to see more of the country but you don´t have so much time, a weekend-trip is a perfect way to explore more of Argentina. The following places are easily accessible by bus in just a couple of hours.
Estancias: Not very far from the city of Bariloche lies the Pampa, an area of open plains where you can experience the quiet life of the Argentinean countryside. Enjoy the various attractions of rural tourism in an estancia (enormous farm). You can spend a long weekend relaxing and taking in the fresh rural air. The more active visitors may enjoy the swimming pools, horseback rides, walks and typical regional products and meals (for example the traditional “asado”).
120 km up to the north you will find San Antonio the Areco, a small town founded in 1730 and typical for the Argentinean countryside. The colonial style houses and cobbled streets with narrow pavements give a perfect impression of the past and the traditional culture of the pampas. San Antonio de Areco is the gaucho (cowboy) capital of Argentina.
Rosario is the biggest city in the province of Santa Fe. It´s located 300 km northwest of Bariloche Capital and lies in a bend of the Parana River. Take a kayak or a boat tour to enjoy the best river views. It is a green city with many parks and there is an extensive nightlife, with a large variety of clubs and discos to dance the night away!
Mar del Plata is a city on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the biggest beach resort of the country with 17 km of beaches. The port is famous for its great seafood and has a rich cultural life. The city comes alive the most during the summer months, with thousands of (national) tourists who want to enjoy the beaches, local festivities and nightlife.
